Global for the first time: CEMEX-Tec Award

In 2018, the CEMEX-Tec Award will be a reality at a GLOBAL level to continue supporting those entrepreneurs and social innovators who seek the growth of high-impact proposals in the field of sustainable development. As the organizer and founder of the Award, the CEMEX-Tecnológico de Monterrey Center for Sustainable Development understands sustainability as a joint and continuous effort towards social development, economic growth and care for natural resources.

Founded in 2010, the CEMEX-Tec Award is an annual recognition to high-impact proposals and projects in sustainable development, innovation and social entrepreneurship, which foster economic development, social involvement of the communities and the preservation of natural resources.

TEC DE MONTERREY: University institution founded in 1943 whose vision is to form leaders with entrepreneurial spirit, human sense and internationally competitive.

Each year, Mass Challenge awards up to $2m in equity-free cash prizes to help high-impact startups succeed.

The Mission

‒ Promote high impact projects, capable of implementing innovative and inclusive solutions in communities in Latin America and the world.
‒ Connect communities with agents of change, to develop skills, knowledge and tools that help improve the quality of life and the sustainable development of the community.
‒ Promote creativity in the search for solutions in the present and in future challenges of the construction industry, through an entrepreneurial culture with sustainable criteria.

All those agents of change who seek to improve their community with projects focused on sustainable development and innovation.

Categories and Prizes

This year the global call will open from February 1st to May 31st in its 2 categories:

TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES

- Aimed at undergraduate and graduate students from any country.

- Looking for proposals with sustainable improvements of communities, which are feasible to implement.

Prize

1st place (Mexico)

1st place (International)

$25,000 USD each for the implementation of the proposal, with follow-up of the CEMEX-Tec team.

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS

- Aimed at entrepreneurs with initiatives with social impact in any country.

- Looking for social and environmental entrepreneurship projects that have at least one year of life and generates a systemic change.

- It is carried out in partnership with Ashoka, the civil organization expert in entrepreneurship and social innovation.

Prize

15 international winners: intensive 5-day workshops, led by Ashoka.

3 first places: $10,000 USD seed capital each.

 

WINNERS of both categories will attend the award ceremony in Monterrey, Mexico on August 31st with all expenses paid.

All the finalist projects will be published in the book of the CEMEX-Tec Award 2018th Edition.
